Getting Away From Danger

Today is Monday, September 22, 2008. Fires, tornadoes, and getting lost are hazards. People can often get hurt. What do we do in a dangerous situation? “You could go out the window and step on the fire escape and lower yourself to the ground if there was a fire,” explained Tre. “You could hide under your bed if there was a tornado,” told Samantha. Haley said, “Stand in the same place and someone will come looking for you if you are lost.” Anthony will send an S.O.S. with a flashlight when he gets lost.

The Shocked Ant

Samantha remembers the rock. Haley remembers the wind. What does he find out? “He finds out that he and his family are the strongest one,” clearly explained Jake. Why is the ant shocked? “The ant was shocked because he and his family were the strongest the one,” told Anthony. Gracie said it was because he was so small.

I learned about the desert. I had fun because I see my cousin in the lunchroom. Treasure math taught me about maps. We ate fruit and my favorite was plum. We made a bar graph with that survey. I feel excited about school.

Learning About the Desert

Today is Friday, September 12, 2008. This week we made many discoveries about the arid desert. We found out that the desert is a landform without much precipitation. Some deserts have sand dunes. Can a cactus be a haven for animals? Taylor G. says that cactuses can be homes for animals. “A woodpecker makes a hole in the cactus,” told Ron.

Today is Thursday, September 11, 2008. Where could you find out more about the desert? Jake thinks we could look on the T.V. Haley and Taylor G. said we should use the internet. Samantha told us that there are books about the desert that would help. What could tell you that the inside of a cactus feels slippery or that cactus candy is sweet? Adjectives are words that describe. Slippery and sweet are both adjective.
